BACON / DE KOONING will mark the first time Francis Bacon and Willem de Kooning, two giants of twentieth-century painting, are presented in immediate dialogue. The exhibition will focus on their smaller-scale paintings from the 1960s and ’70s, which were deliberately human in proportion, allowing for an increased intensity of emotive force and an extraordinary demonstration of their respective technical virtuosities. BACON / DE KOONING will demonstrate the artists' shared commitment to the medium of paint as a primary means of human expression.
